What is Ashiatsu? Ashiatsu-Oriental Bar Massage is a style of barefoot massage where the practitioner utilizes an overhead bar system to aplpy firm pressure with long flowing strokes, which are deep, yet gentle. Ashiatsu's history spans continents and more than 3,000 years. Ashiatsu combines the best elements of traditional Thai massage and barefoot Shiatsu from Japan and Southern India.

Ashiatsu literally means "foot" (ashi) "pressure" (atsu)

This massage is beneficial for multiple body types, but especially for those with tight or restricted muscle movement. This treatment is often called heavenly due to the even, deep, and controlled pressure applied along the spine.

A quote from "Health Magazine" May 2004 says: "Experts in the field say this methos allows therapists to get more deeply into the muscles than they can with their hands, so it beter relieves stress and tension and improves posture and flexibility."

How does it work? Ashiatsu balances and supports your entire body. This special treatment starts with your upper back and works its way down your body.

Ashiatsu helps to elongate your spine. The long flowing movement dramatically stretches shortened muscles releasing your discomfort and tension. Ashiatsu has been documented through research to be an effective, non-surgical technique for the treatment of chronic lower back and neck pain, approved by the NCBTMB and recognized by the American Medial Association.

Ashiatsu works to cleanse your Lymphatic System. The practitioner rythmically moves her feet along your spine and other limbs to create a pump, pull and release method which releases metabolic wastes into the lymphatic system for removal.

Ashiatsu redlieves your stress, tension, and anxiety. Plus, invigorates & energizes you. After an Ashiatsu session, your body can feel "lighter". Many describe the therapy as effecting them on both the physical and mental levels. Ashiatsu offers you an unforgettable massage experience that is profound yet gentle and soothing.
